Modern Animals was created by Paul Gachot, a writer and creative producer born in New York and currently living in Venice, California. He works with directors and production companies conceiving and writing new projects. He has founded two photography magazines and a major film festival and served as creative director for two other festivals. He has worked as a journalist, photographer, ghostwriter, concert promoter, and creative consultant, among other pursuits.
Deeply curious about consciousness and creativity in all living creatures, he is committed to pushing creative boundaries and setting new paradigms for immersive experiences and events.
He attended Choate Rosemary Hall, New York University, and Sarah Lawrence College where he studied writing and film. He also completed the producers training course in documentary filmmaking at the BBC in London. He writes two blogs, Gazpachot and Hypnogogic Zoo, the latter being one inspiration for this show.
